Getting Started with Pinfig

# Configure Your AI Model

Pinfig uses a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) approach, giving you full control over which AI models you use and how much you spend.

## Supported Providers

You can connect Pinfig to any OpenAI-compatible AI providers, like Chatgpt, Groq, etc.

## Configuration Steps

1. Open **App Settings**
2. Select the AI capability you want to configure (Text, Image, Audio, etc.).
3. Click on the **Add Model** button
4. Enter your **API Key**.
5. Provide a **Base URL** if you are using a provider other than OpenAI (e.g., `https://api.groq.com/openai/v1`).
6. Specify the **Model** name (e.g., `openai/gpt-oss-20b`).
7. You can customize settings like **role** and **temperature** to control the creativity of the responses.

By default, Pinfig uses sampling to optimize token usage while keeping chat history enabled. Unless you specifically need it, you do not need to enable `Full context`.

# Using the AI Chat

Once your model is configured, you can start interacting with Pinfig's AI assistant.

## Opening the AI Chat

- Look for the **AI Chat** from the sidenav or use the chat in the App siderbar.

## Interacting with the AI

- **Ask Questions**: Type any question about your notes or general knowledge.
- **Reference Content**: You can specify documents for the AI to focus on (depending on your configuration).

## Common Use Cases

- **Summarization**: Ask the AI to summarize a long local pdf.
- **Brainstorming**: Use the AI chat to create a board of ideas.
- **Learning**: Use the AI chat to create a personalized podcast.
- **Memorization**: Use the AI chat to create an interactive flashcard.

# Managing Chat Threads

Threads allow you to organize your AI conversations by topic and keep them for future reference.

## Organizing Your Conversations

Pinfig automatically saves your AI chats as **Threads**. Each thread is stored as a standard Markdown file in your workspace, ensuring your data is always accessible and portable.

## Working with Threads

1. **New Thread**: Click the **"+"** button in the AI Chat panel to start a fresh conversation.
2. **Rename**: Threads are named automatically based first message. Also, you can rename them.
3. **Delete**: You can delete threads from the chat interface.
