# Connect a model

azwu runs on a model you choose: a local model, or a provider you trust with your own API key.

1. Open **Settings** from the gear at the bottom of the left rail.
2. Choose the AI capability to set up (text, image, audio…).
3. Click **Add Model**.
4. Enter your **API key**.
5. For a provider other than OpenAI, give its **Base URL** (for example `https://api.groq.com/openai/v1`).
6. Enter the **model** name (for example `openai/gpt-oss-20b`).

Any OpenAI-compatible provider works.

# Work on the item you have open

Open a board, a note or a PDF, then click **azwu** in the top bar.

- The item you're on, and what azwu knows **about you**, go in as chips above the box. Remove any chip you don't want sent.
- Choose **Edit** to let azwu change the item directly, or **Suggest** to review and accept each change yourself.
- Ask in plain words, for example: *Add an Open questions frame with one sticky per open question from the launch plan.*

azwu does the work in place and tells you what it changed, with the notes it used. Use **Open in panel** to keep the conversation beside your work.

# Ask across your notes

Open **Chat** from the left rail to ask about anything in your vault.

- Answers cite the notes they come from, numbered, so you can check each claim.
- Type **@** to point azwu at a specific note, board or agent.
- Each conversation is kept as a thread you can come back to, rename or delete.
